Can Demirel


Can Demirel has been familiar with Turkish folk music since childhood. The musician, who was born in Stuttgart, has familiarized himself with the various playing techniques of the Baglama over the years, such as the Selpe technique (tapping) playing without a plectrum.

With Talip Özkan he deepened his knowledge of traditional Turkish folk music. He himself had taught for a while in Stuttgart at the music school of his teacher Kadir Kaya.

Can Demirel not only deals with the baglama, but also with the davul, the double-headed Turkish bass drum and the single-headed hand drum bendir, he has his own home studio where professional music is recorded. He works closely with Adrian Werum.
