Violinist Ge Liu was born in Tianjin, China, where she also attended school and has already won numerous prizes in youth musical competitions. As a 14-year-old, she also achieved first prize in the Yampolsky International Youth Competition in Russia. After studying music in Beijing, during which she attended master classes as a chamber musician with the Shanghai Quartet, the Tokyo String Quartet and the Fine Arts Quartet, she came to Germany in 2004 on a DAAD scholarship and completed her chamber music diploma in Karlsruhe. This was followed by postgraduate artistic studies in Mannheim and her soloist training in Trossingen.

Ge Liu worked as a violinist in the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra, at the Mannheim National Theater and in the orchestra of the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe before taking up the position in the 1st violin section of the Württemberg Philharmonic Orchestra Reutlingen in 2010.
