JOHANNES KRAMPEN received his first violin lessons at the age of 5. Already in his youth he was a multiple prize winner at various competitions in solo and chamber music – nationally as well as internationally.
This was followed by studies with Prof. Ulf Hoelscher and in the soloist class of Prof. Peter Daniel.
In 2000 he was awarded the European Culture Prize.
His concerts and engagements as a chamber musician and soloist regularly take him to France, Portugal, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Mexico, Russia and Japan, among other places.
In 2013 his debut album Violosophy vol.one – modern music in post modern times was released.

Besides his engagements in classical music, he also feels at home in other styles: the Johannes Krampen Trio (film music), Die fabelhaften Monday Boys – Quartett (ClazzJazz ), the violin duo two4strings and the band Asamblea Mediterranea (music of the Sephards & Ashkenazis) are some of his well-known formations.
Since 2017 JOHANNES KRAMPEN is first concertmaster and soloist of the Orchestra of Cultures.
About the Orchestra:
For me, it is the collaboration with extraordinarily wonderful characters from all over the world and all conceivable musical genres that result in a mix of musical and personal closeness that one cannot escape as a person and musician. In this symbiosis an unconcernedness of the musical performance of the orchestra arises, which is hardly explainable and tangible – but is an essential reflection of an intercultural community!
