Whygold’s Weekend

Whygold’s Weekend

… under this motto I present you my music tip for the weekend.

Maybe one or the other discovers something new.

Consciously listening to music is, in my opinion, as important as reading a good book.

The Corrs is an Irish pop music group. The group consists of four siblings who were born and raised in Dundalk near the Northern Ireland border on the east coast of Ireland. In their music they combine pop, soft rock and folk elements.

The Corr siblings grew up in Dundalk, a small Irish town in County Louth. You come from a musical family. The national breakthrough came for the Corrs in 1995 after they released their first album titled Forgiven, Not Forgotten.

Their second album, Talk on Corners, released in the fall of 1997, also sold well. They achieved their breakthrough in the UK and the rest of Europe with a remix version of the album and a cover version of Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams. The CD was the most successful album of 1998 in the UK. The Corrs were the first Irish band to achieve such success in the UK.

In the summer of 2000, they released their third studio album, In Blue, which was their breakthrough album in the U.S., and played an MTV Unplugged concert. A best-of album was released later in the fall of 2001.

In mid-2004, the siblings released Borrowed Heaven, an album marked by the death of their mother. She died at the age of 57 from a rare lung disease.

In September 2005 the album Home was released, which contains mainly Irish songs, including some cover versions of traditionals and more current titles. In addition, the double DVD All the Way Home / A History of the Corrs was released in October 2005, which includes a concert recording as well as a detailed documentary on the career of the Corrs.

Between the years 2007 and 2013 solo releases by Andrea and Sharon Corr appeared.

On June 11, 2015, the Irish Times reported that the siblings were making a comeback.[1] Andrea Corr confirmed this in a radio interview with the BBC. The Corrs performed at the Live in Hyde Park concert in London on September 13, 2015 after a ten-year absence from the stage. In addition, the group announced that they were working on a new album.[2] This album was released on November 27, 2015 under the title White Light. November 2017 saw the release of Jupiter Calling, the group’s seventh studio album.

Today again something Irish. A really nice unplugged album that became famous at the time through the MTV Unplugged series.
